Meghalaya is known for its rich honey production and there are many villages in the state that are involved in honey farming, one such village is Kudengrim. The village is known for producing high-quality raw honey from its vast stretches of forests and the abundant wildflowers that grow there. The honey produced here is considered to be pure and natural, with a distinct flavor and aroma. The villagers here have been practicing honey harvesting within the village and as you walk through the village, you will likely see a lot of beehives.
If you go for a trek in Kudengrim, don’t forget to try their honey, you can buy it either raw or processed, both are good and pure, and you will be supporting the local community.
Raw honey is the honey that is collected directly from the beehives and is minimally processed. It is not heated or pasteurized, which means that it retains all of its natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals but has a shorter shelf life. On the other hand, processed honey is honey that has been heated and filtered to remove impurities, and it is also pasteurized to kill any bacteria.
